Repair of an Exocet SL Sport 78 board after delamination of the bottom. The board is quite old, and while sailing, it started making disturbing sounds. It turned out that the bottom had detached from the polystyrene core along the entire middle section of the board. Despite the delamination, the board remained watertight.
The repair involved cutting open the delaminated part of the bottom, reinforcing it with resin mixed with carbon powder, securing and leveling the joints, and finally painting it so that the repair wouldn’t stand out. 😜 After the repair, the bottom is once again hard and rigid.
